PubNub traditionally catered to developers, providing them with tools to expedite their processes. With Insights, the intent was to broaden the horizon and cater to personas craving a comprehensive understanding of their PubNub solutions' performance.
The primary challenge was to diversify PubNub's value proposition by catering to personas beyond developers. There was a need to design a product that not only provided essential metrics and data analytics but also seamlessly integrated into the users' workflow, ensuring they could derive actionable insights from their data.
Leveraging my role as the lead designer, I quickly transformed market research and customer feedback into tangible product concepts. I regularly engaged the team in reviewing Figma designs, refining based on feedback, and then moved to more detailed prototyping using Axure RP.
Key Outcomes:
Robust Prototyping: Adopting a methodical design approach, I swiftly moved through conceptual designs, building detailed prototypes using Axure RP, complete with embedded dashboards showcasing mock data.
Real-time Feedback: My prototyping approach facilitated immediate customer feedback, even before the engineering phase, enabling us to refine, prioritize, and sometimes deprioritize features based on actual customer needs.
Feature Development Post GA: Leveraging customer usage patterns and preferences, we introduced value-add features such as "Analyze with AI". This tool assists users in decoding their data, understanding custom and predefined prompts.
Empowered User Experience: We enriched the customer journey by enabling users to autonomously upgrade and activate Insights, which eventually led to higher conversions post-activation.
The culmination of dedicated research, iterative design, and customer-centric prototyping resulted in:
